When Tammy Abraham joined Aston Villa back in late August 2018, the English striker made an impact Villians would cherish as his 26 goals and three assists throughout his 40 matches led the way in Villa’s promotion-winning season to get the club back to England’s top flight.
Following Abraham’s breakout season, he was then thrust right back to the Premier League, where his career has seen numerous highs and lows across stints at Chelsea, Roma, Milan, and most recently, Beşiktaş. Abraham has since notched 90 goals in 269 appearances, including 13 goals in his 26 games with the Turkish giants.
“I was speaking with my missus yesterday, and we were just reminiscent of all the memories we had, you know, being here, and I just can't wait to meet everyone,” quoted Abraham to in-house media in an interview Tuesday afternoon.
Despite Villa being tied on points with second-place Manchester City (46), the claret and blue have scored just 35 goals, the lowest of any team in the top five in the league, meaning the addition of Abraham is a welcome one.
Currently, Villa are competing in the UEFA Europa League, and the FA Cup, as well as their bid to shock the league as they sit just four points behind league leaders Arsenal with 15 matches to spare.
Manager Unai Emery is widely known across Europe as one of the game’s cup-competition specialists, as the Spaniard has won four Europa Leagues (2013/14 Sevilla, 2014/15 Sevilla, 2015/16 Sevilla, 2020/2021 Villarreal).
Villa have already secured a spot in the next round of the Europa League, despite whatever happens when they take on Austria’s Salzburg on Thursday evening.
On the FA Cup front, Emery’s side is set to take on Newcastle on February 14th. As home fixtures against Brentford and Brighton sandwich an away trip to Bournemouth, precede their FA Cup tie.

A homecoming for Abraham
Earlier today, it was announced that Beşiktaş had sold Abraham to Villa for a €21.00M fee, in a move that now adds depth to a core that was solely spearheaded by 30-year-old Ollie Watkins, who has compiled eight goals and one assist in his 23 matches for the third-place side.

The future is bright
“Right now, the world's our oyster. We've got a good team, I don't think it's out of reach to say we can push for every competition we're in. I'm here, and I want to win. I want to win trophies; we have to push for every competition.”Currently, Villa are competing in the UEFA Europa League, and the FA Cup, as well as their bid to shock the league as they sit just four points behind league leaders Arsenal with 15 matches to spare.
